In the 5th Episode of Moksha Talks, Bubla Basu discusses the timeless themes of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” with Shampa Mukherji. They explore ambition’s dangers, the nature of absolute power, and the relevance of these themes in today’s social media-driven world.
Bubla draws parallels between the play and our dual online/offline personas, questioning if we, like the characters, present a facade while hiding our true selves. The conversation touches on gender dynamics and highlights how the play’s elements, like stagecraft and dialogue delivery, connect with the audience.
Emphasizing that Shakespeare’s plays are meant to be performed, not just read, Bubla delves into the linguistic richness of “Macbeth,” declaring it a “visceral” experience that resonates powerfully today.
